Vigilance raids house of former LAW Enforcement Officer

Vigilance Organization of Kashmir (VOK) on Wednesday raided the house of former Enforcement Officer of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA), at Rajbagh here and seized documents pertaining to purchase of immovable property.

Pursuant to the allegation that he has amassed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income by resorting to corrupt practices, Vigilance Organisation Kashmir had obtained a search warrant from the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Srinagar after registration of case FIR No. 54/2015 u/s  5(1)(e) r/w 5(2) J&K Prevention of Corruption Act against the said Enforcement Officer,” VOK spokesperson said in a statement.
“During extensive house search, various documents were recovered which pertained to the purchase of immovable property by the accused Enforcement Officer while in active service. The accused has constructed a huge shopping complex at Batamaloo Srinagar. He has purchased 2 kanals 18 marlas of land at Batamaloo. He has also purchased 4 kanals 15 marlas of land at Lolpora Tangmarg. The accused was also found in possession of movable property like bank balance, jewelry, bank lockers, cash, electronic goods worth lakh of rupees,” the statement said.
  “This is the 5th case registered by VOK against the officers/officials of LAWDA Srinagar in the current year. The earlier being FIR No. 17/2015, 48/2015, 52/2015 & 53/2015. VOK has constituted a Special Investigation Team comprising of Dy SP Mushtaq Wani, Inspector Murtaza Kirmani and Inspector Showkat Abdulla to look into the allegations of corrupt practices by LAWDA officials and thereby raising assets disproportionate to their income,” it added.
